Our philosophy
At St. Mary’s Early Learning Centres, children engage in high-quality programs led by educators delivering current, research-based pedagogy and practice.
To keep children healthy and safe, as well ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, our centre teams are guided by operational systems, policies and processes designed to reflect their specific context. A child’s right to be protected and enjoy a sense of wellbeing and belonging is supported by engaged educators, mindful of their responsibility to keep children safe from harm.
The teams at St. Mary’s Early Learning Centres set expectations for the layout, design, safety, versatility and functionality of the furniture, equipment and resources in the indoor and outdoor environments. Environments are designed to enhance positive outcomes for children and reflect children’s culture, ideas, interests, and community.
Children and their families are welcomed, included and supported to become part of the St. Mary’s family. Positive, responsive and nurturing relationships are developed with the children from their first day, ensuring they are supported to feel secure and able to confidently engage with educators and amongst themselves.
Centre practices and environments reflect the cultural and social needs of the families and community in which they are located. Centre teams develop and maintain strong connections with, and acknowledgement of, past, present and future community leaders, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Team members understand the expectations for their practice and are guided and supported to grow in their role through the delivery of high-quality, targeted and mixed mode professional learning.
